Making vague ideas less vague
question Why write before an idea is fully clear?
short version Because writing gives the vague thing edges. Once it has edges, it can be inspected, corrected, or abandoned.
Most ideas begin as a vague feeling that something is connected to something else. Writing is useful because it forces that feeling to either become clearer or admit that it was only fog.
This site exists for that process. Some notes will become projects. Some projects will become notes. Some thoughts will remain unfinished, which is unfortunate but historically unavoidable.
The rule is simple: preserve the thought, improve it later, and do not wait for perfect understanding before writing anything down.
still unclear When does a rough note become useful, and when is it just a nicer-looking form of procrastination?
